Message from the CEO and President, Peter Williams
ATTENTION Mid-Bronx Residents! Get ready and excited for changes in your building and community. Why might you ask? Peter Williams, recently appointed CEO of MBD Community Housing Corp., is ready to take on the task of making Mid-Bronx the place to be!
Growing up in public housing in the Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn made him very aware of the needs of people in Crotona Park East. “I am focused on upgrading our properties, providing better communication with the tenants, enhancing services and providing a safe living place for the residents,” says Williams. “I also want to develop energy efficient and environmentally friendly buildings.” But most importantly he wants to develop new services and programs that can create better housing, business and employment opportunities for residents.
One of his new initiatives is to offer free tax preparation services for residents of Crotona Park East so that they can take advantage of the Early Income Tax Credit. “Too many people are abused by tax preparers,” he says. “MBD is here to serve the tenants and without them, there wouldn’t be an MBD,” says Williams.
The tax preparation service is the first new program at MBD under Williams’s leadership and he believes it will help put money back in people’s pockets. For more information, please call 718-842-0256.
